How often are you actually inspecting during the flow? Weekly checks vs just letting them work

Second year, two hives in Ontario, basswood about to pop. Last year I inspected every single week all summer because the books said so, and honestly I think I set them back — every opening broke propolis, squashed a few bees, and they hung out front for an hour after instead of foraging. This year I'm tempted to just add supers and leave the brood nest alone until the flow ends. But then I read that swarm cells can go from egg to capped in 8 days and a capped cell means the swarm's basically gone. So what's the actual practice? Full brood inspection weekly? Tip the boxes and check the bottom bars? Or trust that a colony with space and a young queen won't swarm mid-flow?
