🐝 Terms of Use

Last updated: July 29, 2026

Beekeeping Community is a place for beekeepers to log their hives, ask real questions, and find each other on the map. These terms are the agreement between you and us about how the app and this website are used. We have written them in plain English, because rules nobody can read are not really rules.

They sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data. Together they are the full picture.

Accepting these terms

When you download the app, create an account, or browse beekeepingcommunity.com, you are agreeing to these Terms of Use. If there is something here you cannot live with, please do not use the service.

Beekeeping Community is operated by Astera Digital. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Astera Digital, and "you" means the person using the app or the site.

How we handle your personal information is covered separately in our Privacy Policy. Using the service means you accept that too.

Who can use Beekeeping Community

You must be at least 13 years old to use Beekeeping Community. If the age of digital consent where you live is higher than 13, that higher age applies to you instead. In several European countries it is 16.

You also agree to:

If we learn that an account belongs to someone below the required age, we will close it and delete the data attached to it.

Your account

Your account is personal. Do not share your password, and do not let anyone else post, message, or comment as you. Everything that happens under your account is treated as something you did.

Keep your login details somewhere safe. If you think someone has got into your account, email support@asteradigital.com right away so we can help you lock it down.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. What that looks like in practice is described under Moderation and enforcement.

Content you post

Forum posts, replies, journey entries, hive photos, map pins, reviews, direct messages and your profile are all "your content". Here is how that works.

You own what you post

Your content stays yours. We do not claim ownership of your photos, your words, or your inspection records.

The permission you give us

To actually run the service, we need your permission to use what you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, display and distribute your content inside the app, on the map, and on shared links to that content. That licence also covers translating your content so beekeepers who speak other languages can read it, and resizing or reformatting it so it displays properly on different screens.

This permission exists only so we can operate and improve Beekeeping Community. It ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies already saved by other users and backup copies that age out on our normal schedule.

Your promise about what you post

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post. That means the photos are yours to share, the text is yours to write, and posting it does not break anyone else's rights or any law that applies to you.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users on Beekeeping Community. None. If you post content that is objectionable, or you treat other beekeepers abusively, we will remove the content and we may close your account permanently — without warning and without a refund.

Objectionable content includes anything in the list under Things you may not do, and anything a reasonable beekeeper would recognise as hateful, harassing, sexual, violent, or deliberately cruel.

Things you may not do

Do not post, send, or upload any of the following, anywhere in the app — including in direct messages:

Moderation and enforcement

We moderate in two layers. Content posted to the app is screened automatically by an AI filter that flags likely violations before other users see them. Flagged material, plus anything reported by a user, is then reviewed by a human on our team.

We act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours. Acting means we review the report and then remove the content, warn the author, suspend the account, or close it — whichever fits what happened.

We may remove content and terminate accounts without prior notice. We are not obliged to explain every decision, though we will usually tell you what rule was broken. Serious cases may be reported to the authorities.

Reporting and blocking

Every user can report content and block other users, directly in the app. You do not need to email us first.

Blocking is instant and one-sided — the other person is not told. You can unblock later from Settings.

Bee AI is a helper, not an expert

Bee AI reads the photos and questions you send it and gives you a best guess. It is a starting point for your own thinking, not a diagnosis.

Bee AI is not a substitute for a veterinarian, a bee inspector, a laboratory test, or an experienced local mentor. It can be confidently wrong about pests, brood disease, and treatment.

Every decision you make about your hives is yours. If a colony looks sick, if you are considering a treatment, or if notifiable disease is a possibility where you live, talk to a qualified person and follow your local rules.

Beekeeping Plus subscriptions

Beekeeping Plus is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID. It renews at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you cancel it in the App Store under Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.

Your use of the app is also covered by Apple's standard licence terms: Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. Where those terms and ours disagree about the app itself, Apple's terms win.

Intellectual property

The Beekeeping Community name, logo, hexagon mark, app icon, design, code, and the lessons and reference material we produce are ours. You may not copy, resell, or build a competing product out of them.

Using the app does not transfer any of that to you. It gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose, for as long as you follow these terms.

Content posted by users stays with the users who posted it, as set out under Content you post. If you believe something on Beekeeping Community infringes your copyright, email support@asteradigital.com with a link to the content and proof of your ownership.

Ending your account

You can stop using Beekeeping Community whenever you want. To close your account for good, open Settings → Delete account in the app.

We can suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if your account puts other users at risk, or if we are required to by law. In serious cases we will do this without prior notice.

We may also discontinue the service itself. If that ever happens, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export what you have logged.

What happens to your data after your account ends is set out in our Privacy Policy, under "Keeping and deleting your data".

Disclaimers and limits on our liability

Beekeeping Community is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information in it — including forum answers, map pins, weather forecasts, and Bee AI responses — is accurate or suitable for your situation. To the fullest extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind.

We are not responsible for what other users post, for advice you follow from the community, or for the outcome of your beekeeping decisions. Your bees are your responsibility.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost colonies, lost honey crop, lost profit, or lost data. Where we are found liable, our total liability to you is capped at the greater of USD 100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some countries do not allow these limits. If yours does not, they apply to you only as far as that country's law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. If we end up in a dispute we cannot settle by talking it through, the courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul, Türkiye will handle it.

If you live somewhere whose consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own country, this section does not take that right away.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms from time to time, as the app grows and as the law changes. The date at the top always tells you when we last touched them.

For significant changes we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Beekeeping Community after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, close your account.

Contact us

Questions about these terms, a moderation decision, or anything else — email us at support@asteradigital.com. A real person reads it.

To report content or a user, use the flag control in the app. That reaches our moderation queue fastest and we act within 24 hours.

For anything about your data, see our Privacy Policy.
