Where should I put my beehive?
Face the entrance away from paths and toward morning sun, with a windbreak behind and the hive raised off wet ground. Bees need water within a few hundred metres or they will find your neighbour's pool. Leave yourself room to stand behind and beside the hive, because you will work it from there.

Face your hives south or southeast to catch the very first morning sunlight. Place hives in sheltered spots instead of open areas to prevent cold winds. Ensure a clean, flowing water source is nearby so bees can easily collect water. Always place hives on stands 30 to 40 cm high to block moisture in pests.
Tilt the hives slightly forward to prevent rainwater from gathering inside the hive. Position hives under partial afternoon shade to protect them from intense summer heat. Keep the bees' flight path away from public footpaths, houses, or busy areas. Surround your apiary with rich nectar and pollen plants for a successful harvest.
Choose a location that is easily accessible by vehicle for honey harvesting and maintenance. Keep hives away from highways and factories to prevent stress from constant vibrations.
