Cut comb: pull it the week it's capped, or does anyone actually get away with leaving it on?

Perthshire, 7 seasons, first year doing cut comb properly on thin surplus foundation and I want to settle a timing argument I'm having with myself. Everything I've read says the window is short: harvest cut comb as soon as the sections are fully capped, because every extra week on the hive means travel stain — thousands of feet tracking propolis and grime over those pristine white cappings until they're yellowed and scuffed, and the premium product becomes ordinary. My first super is maybe 90% capped now and gleaming. But part of me wants to leave it 'to be sure' the moisture is right. Those of you who sell cut comb: do you pull at 100% capped immediately, or accept a little staining for peace of mind? And you freeze it 24-48 h for wax moth before sale regardless, yes?

Pull it. Capped is capped — the bees don't seal it until the moisture is where they want it, so 'leaving it to be sure' buys you nothing but stain. I take sections the same week they're finished and the difference between week-one white and week-three ivory is visible across a market stall. And yes: 48 h in the freezer for every section, no exceptions, then straight into containers so they don't take on freezer smells.

Same practice, one refinement: I pull frames as soon as each is fully capped rather than waiting for the whole super, on a flow day when most foragers are out. Fewer feet on the comb, calmer harvest. Handle like eggs — cappings bruise and weep if you lean frames against each other. The freezer step also firms the comb up nicely for clean cutting, so cut after thawing to room temp, drain on a rack overnight, then box.

From the customer-facing side: I charge roughly double per kilo for cut comb versus jarred, and the ONLY complaints I've ever had were about appearance, never taste. White sells itself. If a section does get stained I don't discount it — it becomes crush-and-strain and nobody knows.
